Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a quick getaway in the lower altitude Annapurna region of Nepal.  It is a short, sweet trek that brings you face to face with the highest mountains in the world.  Perfect for trekkers of all ages and skill levels, the trail is rather easy and does not reach the altitudes of other treks in the region.  Poon Hill (3210m) is the ultimate destination of this trek, where there is an incredible viewpoint of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu mountain ranges.  Waking up early to see the sun rise over the rugged Himalayan peaks is a must.

OurGhorepani Poon Hill Trek embarks from Nayapul, a common departure point for treks in the Annapurna region. We make our way to Ulleri by following the stream and walking through the picturesque terraced hillside.  It is a somewhat strenuous climb, though certainly worth the effort.  From Ulleri, the trail winds through a massive forest. During the Spring, the trailis teeming of life. The rhododendron forest, full of birds and other wildlife, changes into a deep, warm red color. We depart fromGhorepani early in the morning in order to catch the once-in-lifetime glowing Himalayansunrise. From the viewpoint, we can see the spectacular views of Annapurna (8091m), Hiuchuli (6441m), Machhapuchhre(6993m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8156m) and many other surrounding white peaks. Another noteworthypoint of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is exploring the Gurung culture in Ghandrukand other villages.  Ghandruk is a local village with traditional Gurung culture and remarkable hospitality.  It is beautifully nested beneath a sea of thepristine mountains. We then descend back to Nayapul and drive further to Pokhara before heading back to Kathmandu.

Trekking is possible throughout the year, but Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) provide the best weather.  During the Spring, there is a bit more color and the rhododendrons are blooming, and in the Autumn months, the skies are generally clearer.  The Ghorepani Poon Hill requires some degree of fitness and acclimatization to avoid acute mountain sickness. Breeze Adventure arranges the trek with complete management. Please, feel free to contact us for more detailed information.

Best Time to Trave

The peak seasons for traveling in Nepal are during the Spring (March to May) and the Autumn (September to November).  These times provide the best scenery and clearest skies, but of course they are a little more crowded than the off-season.  It is possible to trek during the Winter (December to February), but you will face cold temperatures.  It is also possible to trek during the monsoon season (June to August), though the views will likely be covered by clouds and there is a high chance of rainfall.
