Annapurna, claimed to be the most beautiful mountain peak in Nepal, makes an amazing trekking destination. Not just in the recent months, but Annapurna Base Camp Trek has been renowned in Nepal for over a century. This is a relatively short, easy, and affordable trek to the base camp of Nepal. With the development of the road network, this 4-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek has now become a blessing.
Imagine standing right before the world’s most beautiful mountain and being surrounded by the Himalayas in all directions. In a very short time, you get mesmerized by the views of the mighty Himalayas, such as Mount Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, and many more. And, we don’t just visit one but two base camps i.e. Machhapuchhre Base Camp as well. Along with that, there are many monasteries, temples, flags, and content on the way from Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp. The awesome landscape of the Himalayas, including the rich biodiversity in the Annapurna conservation area, is a true blessing. Not only can you need some of their nearest Himalayan mammals as Thar, Red Panda, and Choral but this is also a great place for birdwatching during the Pokhara Short ABC trek.
4 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderately difficult trek that can be done by anyone with determination and good physical strength; no special training is needed. This astounding trek is even more fun during the months of Autumn and Spring with clear views and colourful forests. This 4-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is ideal for people with short holidays and a low budget. If you have some more time, we recommend the classic Annapurna Base Camp trek to include more areas in your trip.
How can a 4-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek be possible?
Earlier, the Annapurna Base Camp trek would start from Ghandruk, and it took 3 days to reach Jhinu Danda. However, now we can all drive to Jhinu from Pokhara in a Jeep. From Jhinu, we walk to Bamboo and then reach ABC on the 2nd day itself. We do have a wonderful opportunity to spend our night in Annapurna Base Camp itself before following the same route backward, completing the Pokhara Short ABC trek.
Best Time for Short 4 Days ABC Trek
The highest point of the trek is Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m, and thanks to Nepal's shifting weather patterns, the ABC trail is now rewarding through most of the year.
Autumn (September to November) is the classic trekking season: clear skies, warm temperatures, and picture-perfect views, with lively tea houses along the way.
Winter (December and January) has become one of our favourite times to run this trek. These months no longer bring heavy snowfall, and the dry winter air delivers the sharpest, clearest mountain views of the entire year. The trail is peacefully quiet, tea houses are cosy with warm wood stoves, and you'll often have viewpoints to yourself. Trekking the last week of December also means celebrating Christmas and New Year's Eve at the foot of the Himalayas — an unforgettable way to ring in the new year. Nights are cold, but with the sleeping bag and down jacket we provide, you'll be comfortable throughout.
Spring (March to May) brings the trail to life with blooming rhododendron and wildflowers. April is especially beautiful, with warm weather and great visibility.
Summer and monsoon (June to August) bring rainfall and lush green landscapes. The trek is not off-limits, with the right weather window and a flexible itinerary. It's still very much doable, and the trail is at its quietest and greenest. Our experienced guides watch the forecast closely and adjust timing for the best clear-sky mornings.
In short: come in autumn for the classic experience, winter for solitude, crystal-clear views, and a once-in-a-lifetime New Year at base camp, spring for blooming forests, or summer for a quiet, green, off-season adventure.
Local culture during 4 Days ABC Trek
You can gain two different kinds of cultural experiences during the trek. In the lower region, there is a large community of Brahmin and Chettri, the followers of the Hindu religion. This means you can see many temples and a great number of festivals here. From Jhinu, the area is mostly occupied by Gurungs who are influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. Their festivals and lifestyle have been influenced by Tibetan people for many years. They have their language and customs, with festivals such as Loshar. The Buddhist people are very friendly and let you visit all the students and monasteries on the way. Take this 4-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek as an opportunity to receive the message of Gautam Buddha. Also, don't forget to try local cuisines on the way and get an authentic taste of some best Nepali foods.
Trek difficulty for 4 Days ABC Trek
The 4-day ABC Trek is rated moderate. You'll walk 5 to 6 hours per day, covering around 12 to 14 km daily across classic Himalayan terrain of stone staircases, forest trails, and river valleys.
The main challenge of this 4-day itinerary is the rapid altitude gain. The trail climbs steadily, and you may feel short of breath as you ascend, especially above 3,000 m. To stay comfortable and safe, walk at a steady pace, take regular breaks, drink plenty of water (3 to 4 litres a day), and listen to your body. No prior trekking experience or special training is required. Just reasonable fitness, determination, and a positive attitude. Your guide will monitor the group closely throughout the trek to ensure everyone stays healthy and enjoys the journey.
