Annapurna Tilicho Trek

Few treks on earth pack intense raw drama into a single week. Yes, I am talking about the 7 days Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Thorong La Pass Trek. This 7 day package combines three of Nepal's most iconic high-altitude experiences into one seamless adventure. IT offers a glacial lake sitting above 4,900 m, a sacred pass at 5,416 m, and the legendary Annapurna Circuit trail threading it all together. This is not a casual walk in the hills. It is a genuine Himalayan expedition compressed into seven unforgettable days.

What makes this package truly special is the variety. One day, you are standing in silence beside the surreal turquoise waters of Tilicho Lake. The wind cutting across ice and stone with no one else in sight will give you unforgettable memories. Next, you are pushing through thin air at dawn toward the prayer flags of Thorong La. This is surrounded by trekkers from every corner of the world sharing the same breathless determination. ACT with Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass means a rare combination in the Himalaya.

From the medieval stone lanes of Manang village to the sacred temple complex of Muktinath, every single day in this 7 day Annapurna Circuit Package delivers something completely different, culturally, visually, and physically.

    Itinerary

    Expand allCollapse all

Your Himalayan adventure kicks off early. Leaving the chaotic buzz of Kathmandu behind, you head northwest through winding mountain roads. You will pass terraced farmlands, rushing rivers, and small Gurung and Magar villages tucked into hillsides. The drive to Chame, the administrative headquarters of Manang District, takes roughly 7 to 8 hours. Depending on road conditions, and yes, Nepal's mountain roads keep things interesting.

By the time you roll into Chame at 2,710 m, the air already feels noticeably cooler and cleaner. Kindly spend the evening with a warm plate of dal bhat. Get your trekking permits checked, and rest up. Tomorrow, the altitude climb begins.

    • Max Altitude: 2710 m
    • Accommodation: Hotel
    • Time: 7-8 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today is a shorter drive, but a significant one. Manang sits at 3,519 m, and your body needs time to adapt. The road from Chame winds through pine and birch forests with stunning views of Annapurna II and Gangapurna looming overhead.

Once in Manang, the real exploration begins. This medieval-looking high-altitude village is one of the most culturally rich stops on the entire Annapurna Circuit trek. You will see the amazing culture of the Gurungs and Ghale tribes here. Wander through stone-paved lanes, visit the local monastery, and chat with yak herders if you're lucky.

Further, the afternoon acclimatization walk, ideally up to Ice Lake or Gangapurna Lake, is highly recommended. This will make a real difference when you climb higher. Drink plenty of water, skip the alcohol, and sleep at this altitude before heading toward Tilicho.

    • Max Altitude: 3519 m
    • Accommodation: Hotel
    • Time: 2-3 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today's trail rewards the effort. From Manang, the route climbs steadily through open meadows and rocky moraines. Literally crossing a landslide-prone section that requires careful footing. Likewise, the trail passes the small teahouse settlement of Srikhola before the landscape opens up dramatically, with massive cliffs, hanging glaciers, and the first distant glimpse of the Tilicho massif.

Tilicho Base Camp at 4,150 m is more than just a stopover; it's a dramatic amphitheater of rock and ice that signals you're now deep in the Himalayas. Not just that, there are a handful of basic teahouses. Dinner, a hot cup of ginger lemon tea, and an early bedtime are your best preparations for tomorrow's big hike.

    • Max Altitude: 4150 m
    • Accommodation: Tea House
    • Time: 5-6 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This is the crown jewel of the entire package. Starting before sunrise, and that early start is non-negotiable. Today, you ascend a steep, icy trail to reach Tilicho Lake at 4,919 m. Let me tell you, this lake is recognized as one of the highest lakes in the world.

When the first light hits the turquoise water and the snow-covered peaks surrounding it, the silence is absolute. Standing there feels genuinely otherworldly. After soaking it in (and taking the photos your Instagram deserves), you descend via the Mesokanto La trail toward Shreekharka at 3,780 m. This is a route far less traveled than the main circuit, which makes it all the more special.

Well, it's a long, demanding day on uneven terrain, but every tired step is worth it. Shreekharka offers warm teahouses and a well-earned dinner.

    • Max Altitude: 4919 m
    • Accommodation: tea house
    • Time: 8-9 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The energy shifts today. You rejoin the main Annapurna Circuit trail, and the atmosphere takes on a quiet intensity, everyone around you knows what tomorrow holds. The trail climbs through arid, wind-scoured terrain typical of the Mustang rain shadow, with views of Yakawa Kang and Khatung Kang flanking the route.

Thorong Phedi and the base camp area at around 4,450 m are busy in peak season. There will be a lot of trekkers from across the world mentally preparing for the high pass. So, eat a proper, carbohydrate-rich dinner, hydrate aggressively, and get to bed by 8 PM. Your alarm is set for 4 AM.

    • Max Altitude: 4450 m
    • Accommodation: tea house
    • Time: 5-6 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Few experiences in Himalayan trekking match this one. You leave in darkness, headlamps cutting through the pre-dawn cold as you climb steadily up a relentless switchback trail toward the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit. Thorong La Pass at 5,416 m is brutal and beautiful in equal measure. Here, the wind can be fierce, the air is thin, and the last 300 vertical meters feel like climbing in slow motion.

But when you finally stand at the prayer flag-draped summit and look out across the Mustang plateau on one side and the Annapurna massif on the other, the feeling is indescribable.

Furthermore, the long descent to Muktinath at 3,710 m is steep and knee-testing. But the sacred Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site at the bottom, with its 108 water spouts and flame temple, offers a deeply moving arrival point. This is after one of the most extraordinary days you'll have in the mountains.

    • Max Altitude: 5416 m
    • Accommodation: Tea House
    • Time: 7-8 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Finally, the trek is over, but the journey ends beautifully. A jeep or tourist bus takes you down through the dramatic Mustang landscape. We pass by Jomsom's windy airstrip and eventually through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.

Then, Pokhara at 827 m feels like landing on a different planet after days above 4,000 m. Warm showers, lakeside restaurants, cold drinks, and the gentle shimmer of Phewa Lake await. All these reflect on what you've accomplished: Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, and one of the most complete Himalayan treks on earth, all in seven days. Well done.

    • Max Altitude: 827 m
    • Accommodation: Hotel
    • Time: 5-7 hours
    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
