Short Langtang Trek is a perfect trek to do when you visit Nepal on short holidays. This short trek offers the best mountain scenery, diverse wildlife, and vegetation. The Langtang Valley Short trek takes you through lush jungles of pine, juniper, rhododendron, bamboos. You will see the cascading waterfalls, wild streams, rocky landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and splashing Bhote Kosi and Langtang Valley river.

Kyangjin Ri is a highlight of this trek. This is the best viewpoint from where you can see the astounding views of snowy peaks and enthralling glaciers. You will see Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri, Langshisha Ri, Dorje Lakpa, and Kangchenpo, Cherko Ri, and Cherko Ri Glacier. 

The Langtang region was highly affected by the Gorkha Nepal Earthquake 2015. During the Short Langtang valley trekking, you will still see the effects of the earthquake. The teahouses en route were destroyed and the trekking trails were affected too. But now, you will see the newly built teahouses and the safe trails. 

This trek begins with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, explores the Langtang valley, reaches the highest at Kyanjin Ri, and finally drives back to Kathmandu. Trek with us. Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive to Syaprubensi and trek to Bamboo
    Early in the morning from Kathmandu, we will take a bus from Kathmandu to Syaprubensi. The bus follows the riverbank of Trishuli and drives towards Syabrubeshi. We will ride in a bus on the scenic one-lane hillside route for 7 to 8 hours. On reaching Syabrubesi, we will begin to trek. We will cross the Bhote Kosi river. After crossing Bhote Kosi river, we will walk ahead following the Langtang Khola.

    Walking along the river under the shades of beautiful trees feels amazing and exciting at the same time. After some time of walking, we will reach Bamboo, 1960 meters. Bamboo is the place where the trekking trail to Gosaikunda lake trekking and Langtang valley trek separates. There are few lodges at Bahboo where we will be staying overnight.

  • Day 02: Trek from Bahboo To River Side
    We will begin to trek after early morning breakfast at Bamboo. From there, we will start trekking towards the Lama Hotel. Today, the trekking trail passes through lush forests of Rhododendrons and Bamboo. While trekking through the forest, there are chances that you will see some wildlife and birds.

    In the forest, there are many wildlife species including yellow-throated martens, wild boars, langur monkeys, red pandas, and Himalayan black bears. The forest is the home of these animals. From the forest, the trail takes a gradual ascent towards Rimche.

    Rimche, 2400 meters is a small settlement at the bank of Langtang River. This a settlement with a few houses. From Rimche, we will ascend uphill towards the Lama Hotel. Lama hotel is our destination today. Overnight in River Side.

  • Day 03: Trek from River Side to Langtang Valley.
    We will begin our trek today with a steep climb through a beautiful forest. The trail is steep and will lead us towards the Langtang River. From there, we will trek towards Gumanechok. Here, we will see beautiful houses. On the trail, we pass across Ghoda Tabela which means a horse stable.

    The trail is scenic and full of greenery. We will see the meadows. The trail climbs gradually into a beautiful valley where we will see the Yaks grazing. There are big meadows and pasture lands for Yaks to graze. The trail goes down into the valley and crosses a beautiful stream.

    We will now climb the trail. On the trail, we will see lots of turbine-like prayer wheels. The stream water drives the prayer wheels. After walking for hours, we will finally reach the Langtang valley. At Langtang, there is a large settlement of Tamangs. You will see beautiful houses built in traditional ways. The lifestyle here has influences of Tibetan lifestyle.

  • Day 04: Trek from Langtang Valley to Kyanjing Gompa
    We will start at around 7 am in the morning from Langtang valley. Today is a short day. We will trek to Kyanjin Gompa from the Langtang valley. The trail is beautiful. Wherever you see, it's all clean and green. Walking through the enjoyable trails, we will walk into a tiny village. At the village, we will see the beautiful houses made up of stones.

    Walking past the village, we will climb up to a chorten. Here, we will see the colorful Buddhist prayer flags hanging over. On the way ahead is a huge mani wall. The trail is easy and flat.
    The three to four hours hike to Kyanjin Gompa is an acclimatization hike. Tomorrow we will be hiking up to Kyanjin Ri, 4773 meters.

    Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful place situated on the lap of Langtang Lirung and Kangchenpo. There is a small 330 years old ancient monastery here. At the monastery, you’ll see the statues of Lord Buddha and Guru Rinpoche. Kyanjin Gompa is also popular for its fascinating Himalayan views. Also, there is a Yak cheese factory.   • Day 05: Hike up to Kyanjing Ri (4850m)or Tserkuri Peak (5020m)and trek back to Langtang Valley
    Kyanjin Ri and Tserkuri Peak are the highlights of Langtang valley trek. We will start early. The earlier the better as clouds start building up in the Himalayas. It is good to start at 6 am. We will have an easier hike since the earth will still be frozen and there will be lowered chances of slipping.

    From the top, we will see the entire face of Langtang Lirung. We will also see the Langtang Lirung Glacier covered inside thick debris. We will also see Changbu and Yubra Himal divided by a large glacier. Moreover, you will see Yalla Peak, Tserko Peak, Naya Kanga, and Kangja La Himal.

    After rejoicing the incredible views, we will descend down to Kyanjin Gompa. We will have lunch there and will begin trekking back to the Langtang valley.

  • Day 06: Trek from Langtang Valley to Syaprubensi
    Today, from Langtang valley, we will retrace the trekking trail to Syaprubensi. The trail is beautiful with green vegetation, flora, fauna, streams, waterfalls, and many others.

    It will take us around 6 to 7 hours to trek back from Langtang valley to Syaprubensi. From Langtang valley, we will make our way towards the Lama Hotel. From Lama Hotel, we will meet a connection point where the trail splits. From there, we will take the route that goes towards the Syarpagaon village. Syapragaon village is a beautiful village where you will meet the hospitable Tamang people.

    Now, we will leave the village and will continue to trek towards another small village called Bhanjyang gaon. The Bhanjyang gaon is a beautiful one. It sits beautifully between the hills. From the village, we will continue to walk further. Trekking through beautiful settlements, we will see the way of life, beautiful people, and also their traditions and culture. The trekking trail now leads us towards another place called Khangjung.
    From Khyanjung, the trail drops down towards Syabrubesi. Before the new trail came into use, trekkers used to take this trail towards Langtang valley. And finally, our trek ends. Tomorrow, we will be catching a bus to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi.

    We will take a bus from Syabrubesi and will drive to Kathmandu. This way, the trek finally ends.
