Accommodation

Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek includes accommodation in the cost.  This accommodation is included only during the set itinerary.  While in Kathmandu and Pokhara, we provide a 2/3 star hotel for you.  During the trek, our guides will pick the best lodge for you to stay in based on their experience as well as room availability.  During high trekking season, you may have to share a room with a same-sex trekker from another group.

Food

Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek has a wide variety of food and it is easy to cater to your needs.  If you are a vegetarian/vegan, gluten or lactose free, we are able to work around that if you let us know ahead of time.  During your time in the hotel in Kathmandu, your breakfast is included.  Lunch and dinner must be covered on your own.  On the trek, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.

Guide & Porters

A government-licensed guide will lead the trek.  All of our guides have tremendous experience on the trails and are passionate about the trekking industry.  Our guides and porters are dedicated to making your experience of trekking in Nepal a memorable one.  If there is any worry during your trek, our guides will address it.  Your safety is our number one priority.  For groups of more than six people, there will be two guides. For teahouse treks, there will be one porter for every two trekkers.   

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend having travel insurance before going on a trek.  We do our best to take care of you, but something can happen that is out of our control.  In case of a medical emergency, leading to a helicopter evacuation, it is best to have insurance.  You are unable to obtain medical insurance in Nepal and must do so in your home country.  Be sure that your insurance covers accidents abroad and high in the mountains.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
    Pokhara is 204 kilometers away from Kathmandu. Early in the morning, our staff will receive you at your hotel in Kathmandu. Set ready after having a nice breakfast. From Kathmandu, we will drive to Pokhara in a tourist bus. The ride is comfortable and is highly scenic as well.

    Driving off Thankot, you will begin seeing the beautiful landscapes and scarce houses and some villages en route. Later on, you will meet the Trishuli river. The bus drives across the highway alongside the river.

    There is a place called Malekhu which is a stopping point for lunch. We will stop there and will have lunch and will rest for a little while. This will take us around an hour. After having Lunch, we will ride again. The trail is beautiful. You will see wide roads ahead of you. You’ll see hills, trees, and settlements around you.

    After hours of driving, we will reach the beautiful city of Pokhara. We will stay at Pokhara today. Pokhara is a very popular tourist hub in Nepal. Here, you will see lots of internal as well as international tourists. Overnight in Pokhara.

  • Day 02: Three-hour drive to Ghandruk by jeep, trek to Kumrung Khola
    Today is the day when we will start trekking. Early in the morning, we will have breakfast in Pokhara. A jeep will receive you at your hotel. We will ride in the jeep towards Ghandruk. The trail is bumpy and is highly scenic. The three hours drive to Ghandruk is beautiful. After the scenic ride, we will reach the beautiful Ghandruk village.

    Ghandruk village is a famous trekking destination also. It falls on the short treks category in the Annapurna region. This village is popular for its cultural richness. The Gurung settlement, the locals, the lifestyles, and their culture are inspiring. Also, we can see amazing views of the Annapurna, Machapuchare, and Himchuli from Ghandruk.

    We will have lunch in Ghandruk. After having lunch, we will begin to trek. The trek finally begins. The trekking trail is grand. We will trek along the bank of a small river called Modi Khola. The air is so clean and the views of the surrounding are amazing. Annapurna region is a trekkers paradise. From there, we will leave the Modi Khola behind and will start walking. Ahead of us, we will see a giant boulder. Walking past the boulder, we will come across the Kumrung Khola. On the riverbed of Kumrung Khola, there is a settlement with some teahouses. Overnight in Kumrung Khola.

  • Day 03: Trek from Kumrung Khola to Sinuwa.
    Today, we will have a warm breakfast in the morning at the Kumrung Khola. We will start to trek crossing the Kumrung Khola above a bridge. Then, we will climb a steep uphill. This trail will take us to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful Gurung village.

    At Chhomrong village, there is a river called the Chhomrong river. We will cross the river and will continue hiking towards the village at Sinuwa. The hike to Sinuwa from Chhomrong river is a hike uphill through the beautiful forests of Bamboo, Rhododendron, and Oak. You will see the brilliant views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre Himal while hiking. The fabulous views of beautiful nature, blue, sky, and the Himalayas are splendid.

    The trekking trail goes few ups and downs. There are stone stairs at some places whereas the trail is flat somewhere. Walking for some hours on the splendid trekking trails, we will reach Sinuwa. Sinuwa is a beautiful village where we will stay overnight.

  • Day 04: Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali.
    After having breakfast at the lodge, we will continue towards Deurali. The hike passes through Kuldhighar. The hike is easy before we reach Bamboo village. From the Bamboo village, we will walk over the steep stone staircases. This part of the trail passes through forests of Bamboo, Rhododendrons, and Oaks. Walking through the pretty amazing trail, we will reach Dobhan.

    From Dobhan, we will take a hike on the steep forested trail. We will continue walking over the trail towards Himalaya. Also, there is a famous Hiku cave that is one the way from Dobhan to Deurali. On this day, you can enjoy the charismatic waterfalls, small temples, and few caves including the famous Hiku cave. Enjoying whatever the trail has to offer us, we will reach Deurali.
    Overnight at a lodge in Deurali. This includes dinner and accommodation.

  • Day 05: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp.
    Today is the day when our destination of the day and destination of trek coincide. We will trek to the base camp of Mt, Annapurna from Deurali. Starting from Deurali, we will make a gentle climb over the trail along the Modi Khola. Walking past the small huts of shepherds en route, we will reach Bagar. From Bagar, the hike is quite tough. The trail is windy. Sometimes, there can be snow on the trails here. After conquering the strenuous trail, we will reach Macchapuchre Base Camp (MCB), 3700 meters.

    We will rest for some time at the Machhapuchre Base Camp. From here, you will see an astounding view of Mt. Macchapuchre, Annapurna III, and other peaks. You can take some beautiful snaps of the Himalayas towering above. There are some trekkers who stay overnight at the Macchapuchre. We will meet some of them.

    From the Macchapuchre base camp, we will begin to walk towards the Annapurna sanctuary. The trail is wide and is beautiful with towering Himalayas surrounding you so close. After hiking for a couple of hours, we will reach our destination.

    Standing at the Annapurna base camp, 4130 meters, you will see the amazing panorama of white glistening peaks surrounding you on all sides. Since the Himalayas surround the base camp from all sides, it is also termed as Annapurna Sanctuary. From there, you can enjoy the amazing views of Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), South Annapurna (7219m), Annapurna I (7219m), Tent Peak (5665m), Singu Chuli (6501m), Mt. Gangapurna (7544m), Fishtail (6,997m), and others.

  • Day 06: Trek from ABC to Bamboo
    We will wake up early in the morning to see the exciting sunshine views over the snow peaks. The views as the sunrays lovingly kiss the peaks of the snow giants are to die for. In clear weather, you will see the most beautiful sunrise views from the base camp.

    After making enjoyable memories at Annapurna Sanctuary, we will have a nice and warm breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, we will say goodbye to the sanctuary and will start descending down to Macchapuchre Base Camp. From there, we will trek back to Deurali.
    From there, we will hike down to the Modi Khola at Bamboo. Today in a single day, we trek down with an elevation drop of 1700 meters. Bamboo is our destination of the day. Overnight at Bamboo.

  • Day 07: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda.
    We will set off on the trekking trail towards Jhinu Danda via Khuldighar. The trek route goes inside a forested trail of Bamboo, Oaks, and Rhododendrons. From Khuldighar, we will take a short walk towards the Sinuwa danda. The trekking trail descends as we reach the Sinuwa danda to meet Chhomrong Khola. We will cross the Chhomrong Khola over a short suspension bridge. After crossing the river, we will head towards the Chhomrung village. We will take a break at the Chhomrung village. You can also have your lunch here.

    From Chhomrung village, the trekking trail descends again. Following the beautiful downhill trail, we will trek to Jhinu village. Jhinu village is a beautiful village situated on a ridge top. Thus, this village exhibits admirable views of the variable landscapes including the lush green hills and forests.

    There is a natural hot spring at a distance of 15 to 20 minutes from Jhinu village. In the Spring, you can take a bath in the natural hot water. Take a dip in the hot spring pool. This will relax your tired muscles. After enjoying the bath in the spring, we will get to the lodge to stay.

  • Day 08: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara
    Today is your last day of the trek. We will start after nice morning breakfast at the lodge in Jhinu Danda. We will cross a bridge over the Modi River. From there, we will trek through a beautiful trail that passes into bamboo forests. On trekking further, we will meet small settlements along the trail. Walking uphill and downhill trails, we will walk to Syauli Bazaar.

    From Syauli Bazaar, the trail becomes flat and easy. We will follow the trail to a place called Birethanti. Here, you should show your ACAP permit at a check post for check out. Your guides will help you.

    We will cross a river, Bhurungdi and will walk up to Nayapul. At Nayapul, we will find a bus or a private vehicle that will drive us back to Pokhara in nearly two hours' time.
