Overview

Join is in climbing what is arguably the most distinct looking peak in the Himalayas – Ama Dablam (6,812 meters / 22,349 feet). Ama Dablam is the third most popular peak to summit in Nepal and for good reason. It is a comparatively short expedition (31 days) to the alluring peak. Because of that, it’s more affordable than most expeditions. Ama Dablam was first climbed in 1961 by a group of climbers from the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Nepal.

The route lies in the world-famous Khumbu Region.  In fact, the first few days on the trail coincide with the Everest Base Camp Trek route. The Ama Dablam Expedition lies within Sagarmatha National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage Site that has numerous snow-capped mountains, glaciers, valleys, lakes, trails, and is home to the Sherpa people.

After our short, at times frightening, flight to Lukla, we begin our excursion full of excitement.  A couple of days later, after passing through Sherpa villages and their fields, we reach Namche Bazaar – a trekking and trading hub of the region where we can experience Sherpa lifestyle and hospitality.  We continue our ascent, passing several Tibetan Buddhist monasteries – Tengboche Monastery being the largest and most well-known.

Leaving Tengboche for higher ground, desolate yet mesmerizing alpine landscapes fill us with energy.  The most incredible mountain views in the world lie right before our eyes. Our next destination is Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 meters / 15,092 feet).

From Base Camp, we make several more ascents to acclimatize before the final push to the summit. Upper Base Camp is around 5,400 meters / 17,717 feet. Camp I is around 5,700 meters / 18,700 feet. Camp II is about 5,900 meters / 17,357 feet. Advanced Camp, from where we head to the summit, is at 6,300 meters / 20,669 feet.

As we climb higher into the mountains, our spirits are filled with the energy that the mountains give us. Exhaustion is often overshadowed by amazement as what grand mountains the world has given us. Finally, we reach the summit at 6,812 meters / 22,349 feet. The feeling cannot be put into words. We have a group hug while your jaw drops at the panoramic views of the tallest mountains in the world.

Spend some minutes up there, snap some photos and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime event. Feeling refreshed, we take our time descending back to Monjo and eventually fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. When we arrive in Kathmandu, a big dinner is in store. You may have just achieved one of the biggest goals of your life, and that certainly calls for a celebration. Make your night a memorable one!

The climbing route varies depending on the season (autumn or spring). We organize all the logistics (organizing the necessary permits, documentation, transportation, domestic airfare, etc). Please do ask questions if you have any uncertainties or questions.

We strive to provide the absolute best services in terms of comfort, efficiency, safety, and climbing success throughout each step of the way. The itinerary is designed by veteran climbers and is attuned to providing the highest chances of success and safety. Safety is our utmost priority throughout the ascent and we adhere to all safety standards. Breeze Adventure arranges the climb with complete management. We must take time to let our bodies adjust to the difference. To help acclimatize, we take a short day hike up to Sagarmatha National Park Museum and Khumjung Village. The supposed Yeti scalp at the monastery, and the Everest Viewpoint are memorable moments of the hike. Also, from the museum, we can see a perfect view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and many more pristine peaks. On the way down, we can stop at the world’s highest 5-star hotel and enjoy a cup of tea. Afterward, we explore Namche Bazaar. Namche is a major trade center in the Khumbu region and is densely populated by the Sherpa people. The city is bustling with trekkers who have finished or are preparing for the Everest Base Camp Trek. Bakeries, cafes, equipment stores, jewelry shops, and restaurants line the streets of Namche Bazaar. Overnight in guest house.

Now we reach a junction, and continuing on the EBC path, we hike up the steep trail. The rhododendron and pine forests, distract us during the strenuous hike. After a couple of hours, we arrive at Tengboche, which gives us awe-inspiring Himalayan mountain views. At the Tengboche monastery, there is a daily ritual at 6 am and 3 pm, which we can observe.
